Hello, my name is Fr, Roger Butcher and I am the parish priest for the Piddle Valley Benefice. The benefice is made up of 6 churches and two schools, one of which is a Church of England school. My responsibility is for all the souls that make up my benefice, some two thousand people plus, irrespective of their beliefs or none, have an entitlement to call upon my services.
Due to the office held as a parish priest, I am a Governor, ex-officio. My primary concern as a Governor is to hold an overview of the life and work of the school. To encourage all 'to do the best they can, with the resources available' and to be a friend to pupils, parents, staff and the Headteacher. As a parish priest and as a Governor, my role, often encompasses the many aspects of what it is to be human - the: spiritual, moral, ethical and mortal aspects that make up our individual sense of being.
Other duties include chaplaincies to the Police and the Wiltshire and Dorset Fire Service. Previous to ordination to the priesthood, my profession was an electrical / electronics engineer and for a period of seven years, owned my own fish and chip business. I am married to Ginny and we have three lovely children. Hobbies include: fishing, poetry, walking the dog, steam engines and annoying my wife.

Register of Interests: Husband is a Foundation Committee member at the school
Hello, my name is Ginny Butcher and I am very fortunate to be involved at the school as a Foundation Governor. I bring to the governing body a wealth of experience being a Mother, but also having worked in various Dorset Primary and First schools as a Teaching Assistant over the last 12 years.
A foundation Governor is nominated by the Parish Priest and the Parochial Church Council (PCC) for Piddletrenthide. My primary role is to share in the duty to promote high standards for the pupils. I will not be involved in the day to day running of the school, which is the role of the Headteacher and her staff team, but all foundation governors are responsible for preserving and developing the christian and moral foundations of the school, acting as a link between the parish and the local community.

It is a pleasure and a privilege to be a teacher at such a fabulous school. I have been delighted by the warm, family atmosphere, close community links and happy, polite, well-motivated children at Piddle Valley. We are blessed with an excellent team of teachers and teaching assistants and I want to support the school to be the best it possibly can.
I have 26 years’ experience in teaching; mainly in Early Years and Key Stage 1. I am passionate about my vocation and thoroughly enjoy bringing wonder and creativity into learning. I have taught in East Sussex and Weymouth, as well as 13 years in Bahrain, as an Assistant Head in one of the largest and well-renowned British Schools in the world.
My husband, Rob is also a primary teacher. My daughter, Hannah is 22 and my son, Ben is 17. We live in Weymouth with our Bahraini cat, Charlie.
