Clocks back! Dark nights ahead

We'll soon be setting the clocks back an hour and summer-time will end. The resources below will help remind children, including teenagers, about road safety and keeping safe in the dark.

Music Curriculum

We have recently met with Mrs. Hannah Trevorrow, the DASP music lead and it was interesting to note that the number of children across DASP participating in individual/group music lessons since Covid19 has decreased.

We are really keen to promote music and the learning of a musical instrument here at Piddle Valley and we are keen to encourage our pupils to take up this opportunity.

During the morning of Wednesday 13th October Mrs. Trevorrow will be joining our Years 2, 3 and 4 for a short assembly to show them a variety of orchestral instruments and to give them an opportunity to ask questions and we hope to have a go. We hope our children will be inspired and come home to share their excitement. Further details of learning an instrument is available on the DASP music website: daspmusic.co.uk

To further the children’s enthusiasm and interest, we would like to invite any budding musicians in our community into school to give a short demonstration. We feel it is important that the children have positive role models to aspire to and it would be lovely to be able to share the talents of our parents/families. If you would be happy to take part, please contact Mrs. Browne via email jbrown@piddlevalley.dorset.sch.uk and we can arrange a convenient time.

A really useful resource to introduce our children to an orchestra and orchestral instruments is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M0Jc4sP0BEE

We will be sharing this clip in school with the children before Mrs. Trevorrow’s visit.

School Council Elections

The school council election took place on Friday 1st October 2021. There was much excitement in the polling station as the children came to place their vote. Well done to all the children who completed an application, we were very impressed with some of the ideas.
